As a Counselling Psychologist who has worked in various healthcare settings in both the public and private systems I am experienced in relating to clients from diverse backgrounds, gender identities, stages of life and experiences.
I have learned to listen in a way that allows me to hear the subtle nuances and repeating themes in a person’s life, and to understand the way that they experience their world based on past experiences and beliefs.
Understanding can lead to change. Once I support the client to gain awareness of these dynamics and how they may relate to their current challenges then together we are able to collaborate to find individualised approaches that can lead to forward momentum in life. I draw from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness and Interpersonal Therapy, and combined with an underlying foundation of empathy, respect and unconditional positive regard I am able to work together with the client to create a safe environment for self-exploration, growth, and positive change.
