I like to start therapy with a conversation about what it is that brings you to therapy, and what it is you would like to gain or achieve from therapy. I also like to hear about your world, including family, work and interests, so that I can deepen my understanding of who you are as a person.
Once we have defined what it is that you would like to gain from therapy, we work towards achieving this by utilising evidence based interventions. These may be done in session either verbally, experientially, or by using worksheets, and we may also agree on tasks that can be completed between sessions in your own time.
Healing, growth and change occur in different ways and at different paces for different people, for some people this may occur in only a few sessions, and other may benefit from more longer term therapy.
In my work I honour and respect diversity, which includes being LGBTIQA+ sensitive, and neuro-affirming.
